CLASS TITLE:  SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

   

Under the general supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct and indirect services to students with identified speech and language disorders and other disabilities. The SLPA supports the development of pre-language and language skills, oral-motor control, vocalization, and use of assistive technology for communication.

Meets the requirements for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) under 201 KAR 17:034, including a bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or equivalent education, and holds a current Kentucky SLPA license.
